Welcome to the Home of Bungy: Kawarau Bridge in New Zealand
Looking for a thrill like no other? Welcome to the home of the world’s first commercial bungy jump, Kawarau Bridge. Located in Otago, New Zealand the Kawarau Bridge was thrown into the spotlight when AJ Hackett decided to open the first permanent commercial bungy jumping site there. Since its opening, several million successful jumps have taken place off the Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump.

While there are many exciting bungy (or bungee) jumping destinations, from famous bridges to skyscrapers, etc. there are none that can claim fame like the Kawarau Bridge. To this day it remains one of the most famous bungy jumping locations with tens of thousands of people venturing to this extreme sport destination every year.
Now, the distinction for the world’s highest bungee jump may be held by the Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa, but obviously height is not the issue when it comes to bungy jumping at the Kawarau Bridge. The famous location, the beautiful scenery and the heart-stopping experience itself, are enough to attract people from all around the world.
Of course, having a choice of what kind of jump you want to take helps keep the Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump a notch above the rest. You can jump facing forward, you can jump backwards, you can do a somersault, you can spin on the way down or even jump with another person. You also have your choice of being able to bob above the water, touch the water or be fully immersed in the river. Wow!
Needless to say, the Kawarau Bridge Bungy Jump is not for the faint of heart. However, if you’re up to it, maybe you’d like to Join Me For a Little Bungee (Bungy) Jumping. Don’t worry though…for those of you who think your stomach wouldn’t be up to the experience, you can always hang out at the onsite wine bar.
