Keeping the Dream Alive Statue
Although we have now seen the end of the space shuttle program, we will always remember the brave astronauts who were essential to the success of the program and to bringing life to space exploration and the international space station. This statue depicts astronaut Michael P. Anderson, one of the seven crew who lost their lives when the space shuttle Columbia exploded upon re-entry back in 2003. The kneeling position of Anderson was done to symbolize humility, while his upward glance and uplifted arm show faith and the releasing of a dove was done to symbolize inspiration. May the memories of the astronauts and all they accomplished over the years contribute to keeping the dream alive.
