Congratulations….the day is almost here! Soon your precious baby will be born. So, to shower you and your little one with gifts, your friends have thrown you a baby shower. Cake and all. This isn’t your typical party cake however. There is no cream filling, no angel food, no strawberries on top, no chocolate sprinkles. No, this time you are getting a Diaper Cake!

If you’ve never been to a baby shower, you might not be familiar with this type of cake. Although it isn’t luscious and creamy, it is still a hot item. Many parents-to-be have no idea how many diapers a newborn baby can go through. Did you know the average newborn goes through 6-8 diapers a day? Amazing, isn’t it?!

But let’s be honest, giving someone a box of diapers isn’t exactly a “WOW” kind of gift. A diaper cake however….that’s another story. Formed, molded and decorated to look like a tiered cake, diaper cakes provide parents-to-be with some much needed supplies in a very creative manner. You can also include other items such as diaper creams, wipes, bath liquids, wash cloths, bottles, toys and even stuffed animals as additional cake decorations. Anything that a new baby can use.

Don’t worry, you won’t have to put together a diaper cake on your own (unless you want to of course), as there are many companies that specialize in these types of baby shower gifts. And trust me, as a mother of two, getting a diaper cake or two or three as a baby shower gift is truly a blessing.
